One of the most difficult times in our work is when we lose people to death. Such losses impact each one of us at Complete Care Strategies by Elder Connections. It is indeed an honor to be in the lives of families as they go through the end of their loved one’s life.
Each of our clients touches our lives. We carry them in our hearts, remembering shared experiences and reviewing the wisdom they imparted to us as we served as caregivers, care managers, nurses, companions and social workers.
Yesterday we received a touching letter from a client’s son that acknowledges the role that we try to play in seniors’ lives. Here, we’d like to share it with you.
“Hi Everyone,
As you all know, my mom died last Friday. She lived a long and wonderful life and only suffered during the last months. Her funeral was a celebration of her life and brought back so many great memories. She was a wonderful mom, kind of a ‘leave it to Beaver’ mom and provided me with what all sons would want from a mom – unconditional love. It was difficult for me to see her not being herself for the past few months, but now that she is in a better place, I am greatly relieved.
I want to thank you all for the excellent care you gave to my mom. Both Veda and Mammie were the best and represented Elder Connections so well. They were both excellent caregivers and actually became really close with my mom. Ellen Glavin played a key role throughout the process and, ironically, was the only one my mom really trusted with the medications.
I cannot say enough of the genuine care you gave to my mom, and you never missed a beat. Given that I never worked with a professional care giver company before, I couldn’t imagine any better service. You were extremely sensitive to all the financial concerns I had because of the uncertainty of her financial resources.
I was really happy that she spent her remaining days in her own apartment. So, please accept my sincere thanks for what proved to be a game changer for my mom over the past two years – your ability to connect with the elderly. Please feel free to use me as a reference; all children of seniors who need your services should be giving you that opportunity.
Again, thanks so much, Bob”
It is truly a privilege when our family is able to help take care of your family member. We’d like to wish all of our clients a Happy New Year and a healthy, creative, loving 2013 from everyone at Complete Care Strategies by Elder Connections.
